Michael is a shareholder with over 30 years of public accounting experience including tenure at a national firm in both Phoenix, Arizona, and Zurich, Switzerland. While working abroad, Michael developed expertise in expatriate taxation which paved the way for his current position as the firm’s international tax partner.
Since joining Hunter Hagan & Company, Ltd. in 1995, Michael provides our clients with a full range of international tax and accounting services, including international taxation and planning, domestic taxation, and management and business consulting. Additionally, Michael has extensive experience in domestic tax planning for closely-held businesses including mergers, acquisitions, and sales.
His current service as Chairman for the Arizona Society of CPAs Tax Legislation Committee provides Michael with challenging opportunities to affect Arizona public policy and wide recognition for his expertise in tax matters. He has attended the AICPA Meeting of Council held in Washington, DC and met with members of Congress regarding legislative matters as one of the representatives for the Arizona Society of CPAs on numerous occasions. Michael writes and edits tax articles and state legislation tax bills and has been published in the Arizona Society of CPAs magazine.
Michael is on the Board of Advisors for the Phoenix Tax Workshop which publishes the Arizona Master Sales and Use Tax Guide and the Arizona Master Income Tax Guide along with providing CPE programs to their members.
Michael graduated from Arizona State University with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting in 1986 and a Masters in Taxation in 1990.
Licensed to practice as a CPA in Arizona, Michael is a member of the Arizona Society of Certified Public Accountants, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Phoenix Tax Workshop, and Valley Estate Planners.
